Los Angeles, CA — April 5, 2017 — There’s been a lot of buzz around the emerging Los Angeles based Shoegaze band, Cuesta Loeb. They just released their 4th single, “Grass it Grows,” an anthem of self-acceptance. Loeb says “We are often told where to go, what to do, and how to think. But these rules are manmade, arbitrary and often times unnecessary. No one tells grass how to grow. It just does, free of any force or pressure.”
Catch Cuesta Loeb this weekend. They will be playing at SWIMM’s 1st annual Los Angeles multistage event “Love You Down” on Saturday, April 8th. The mini festival will take place at the Hi-Hat with 2 stages, 7 bands, 3 DJs, Blind Spot Visuals, media sponsors and activities.
Cuesta Loeb will be joined by fellow band member and co-producer, Blake Straus, on guitar, Michael Garner (of Hunter Hunted) on keys, Kiel Feher on drums and Jordan Kleinman on bass. “We’re so excited to be a part of this amazing event and to start playing out,” says Loeb.
“There’s only a hint of Cuesta Loeb’s background in classical music in her first single “My King” — plucked strings at the outset give way to strummed ukulele, her velvety vocals and a warm wave of dreamy guitars… It’s a poignant introduction to the young singer…” – Kevin Bronson, Buzzbands LA

NYC native, Christina Cuesta Loeb (who dropped the “Christina” for her debut solo project) comes from a family of musicians. Born to world-renown jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb and Spanish singer-songwriter/actress Carmen Cuesta, she grew up between the US and Spain, studying classical flute and bassoon. While she really enjoyed performing and playing in orchestras, Cuesta Loeb was unable to find her voice in classical music. In 2015, she moved to Los Angeles and began experimenting in her own songwriting and production.
Inspired by Green Day, The Smashing Pumpkins, Fiona Apple, and (early) Sheryl Crow, she combined her love of dark, haunting melodies with dreamy, ethereal instrumentation and vocals. She found her home somewhere in the world of Dream Pop, with a blend of everything from acoustic ukuleles to Shoegaze-heavy guitars. From this, she linked up with guitar player/producer, Blake Straus, and recorded her first 5 track EP, Dive, to be independently released in early 2017. With the exception of live drums, it was all recorded in her home studio in Los Feliz.
